BILL HAMILTON is a master printer and co-owner of Phineas. He is a skilled craftsman in letterpress, offset and digital printing. Self-taught, he ran the job shop at the Argus Champion newspaper in Newport, NH before starting Phineas. He was educated at the Albany Academy and Tufts University with a degree in Philosophy. An avid fisherman, both in fresh and salt water, he now owns a farm on a cove where he raises high bush blueberries near the Piscataqua River in Eliot, Maine.
SUSAN KRESS HAMILTON's love of design and good typography comes from her early work as a letterpress printer and passion for looking at every well designed book she can get her hands on. She has been a graphic designer and co-owner of Phineas since the 1970s. She studied art history and studio art at Tufts University, the Museum School in Boston and Dartmouth College. A passionate birder and gardener, she raises orchids and has an oil painting studio in Kittery Point, Maine.
